TRIGGER CHANGESpace for sharing, creating, discussing, experimenting, learning and unlearning not only in the field of sound and electronic music.Space filled with amazing instruments, books, and other resources run by artists and curators, who are committed to creating welcoming space for everyone to learn, share and collaborate as equals and to trigger change with respect, care and thoughtfulness. It is a place to start and sustain, to build new relationships with sound, instruments, yourself and new fellows as well. Space to think about reasambling as a community and ways how we can trigger change together as much as it is a space to learn new technology and basics of sound and music making. Synth Library with all its gear should not only be attractive and at times overwhelming, it should first and foremost be liberating and supportive of many different ways how to approach it and express. Anyone can register, book their time and approach the instruments in their own way. During the opening hours at least one facilitator is available for questions and helping with a basic set up for the start. SLP offers other resources like books and manuals as well. Everyone is invited to learn more about different approaches to sound making and composing, broad theories of sound and sound synthesis or explore specific concepts of gear as well as instrument building at regular events and gain resources about existing synth, sound art and activist communities. Synth Library hosts monthly intro workshops (not only) for new members called How to Read Synths and regular community listening sessions Open Mix of music created (not only) at the SLP, taking place is Punctum Club since 2025. You can also join a regular meet-up of women, non-binary and trans artists Trigger Together, collective reading (previously with Afro-Centric Book Club), the Alt-Prajd collective, Reproductive Justice Month collective or our sound walks Non-music of Non-places. The library is made possible thanks to the work of volunteers, donations and small portion of workshop fees. We encourage everyone to bring ideas, contribute to maintaining the library, join the team of facilitators as well as suggest topics for future events or meet-ups. One of the main goals of Synth Library is supporting equality, respect and deep listening as a community building practice. Thus we have joined the Feminist (Art) Institution initiative and their code of conduct written during a seminar organizer by tranzit.org Synth Library Prague is the first sister library of S1 Synth Library in Portland. Like the S1, SLP is made possible by its partnership with 4MS and Bastl Instruments and the generous support from an international community of makers like Make Noise, Mutable Instruments, Erica Synths, Moog, HexInverter, Mordax, Koma, Hosa, Black Corporation, Ladscape FM, Arturia, Stem Modular, Teenage Engineering… and more. Thank you all so much! <3 Would you like to donate an instrument, book or other resources for anyone to use at the library, even just temporarily? Please, contact us. ![]() Synth Library Prague is run by Mary C, curator, writer, DJ and sound artist, who worked on its establishment with Alissa DeRubeis, co-founder of the original S1 Synth Library in Portland. Mary, together with Martin Tvrdy, is a co-founder of a music education platform focused on electronic music called Kreaton. Mary was also a curator and organizer of music education events such as Music Ports supported by Goethe-Institut. Together with Nikol Strobachova and her collective Pink Noise, which formed within the collective of acclaimed Czech electronic hand-made musical instruments producers Bastl Instruments, and Alissa DeRubeis she founded a program called TRIGGER-SYSTEM organized for and by women in electronic music which was awarded a small grant from U.S. Embassy in 2018. Trigger collective continues working together as an open circle of women, non-binary and trans artists. The local founding team of SLP (now at Pod Terebkou 1139/15, Praha) was a member of _ZVUK_ collective, residing together at a creative space and open media lab for music education founded by Kreaton, in partnership with film and animation school Aeroskola, Bastl Instruments, musician and teacher Martin Ozvold, joined by musician and director Johana Švarcová and musician and sound designer Stanislav Abrahám. |
