Transducers Orchestra
experimental workshop
w/ L’oriole
Musicians Stéphane Clor (cello) and Clara Levy (violin) are inviting anyone playing an instrument to discover and immerse themselves within the specific set up of their duo L’Oriole, consisting of a series of resonators set on a variety of sounding bodies. After being briefly introduced to the transducer orchestra and the patch which controls the set up, workshop participants are invited to activate and interact with the dispositive through a series of open scores.
L’oriole is Clara Levy : violin + Stéphane Clor : violoncello piccolo & a transducers orchestra L’oriole mixes the string colors from the violin and cello with a timbral mechanism made of transducers set on sounding bodies. The sound of the acoustic instruments vibrates through different materials, offering new possibilities of colors and textures drawn from these suspended resonators. Eery and acute, the music thus flutters in long contemplative flights and sometimes condensate in clouds of screams and raw materials. https://3interferences.net/oriole https://soundcloud.com/loriole/sets/loriole-clara-levy-stephane L'Oriole live on Radio France in Anne Montaron's programme A l'Improviste (october 2024) https://www.radiofrance.fr/francemusique/podcasts/a-l-improviste/duo-l-oriole-7378682 Clara Lévy is a French violinist and composer, whose career is mainly focused on what is commonly called « new music » For the past few years, she has been developing solo projects, questioningin turn the conditions of listening and the dramaturgy of the concert (Outre-Nuit), or the sometimes blurred edges between interpretation and composition (13 Visions). Besides her own projects, she is regularly collaborating with European ensembles such as ONCEIM (Paris), Ictus (Brussels), Hanatsu Miroir (Strasbourg). She also has close collaborations with various musicians such as Alexis Degrenier, Stéphane Clor, Victor Guaita Igual, Clara de Asis, Eva- Maria Houben... Stéphane Clor’s artistic research lies at the intersection of music, sound art, and visual art, within a transdisciplinary approach that also engages with fields such as social sciences, natural sciences, and philosophy. He is particularly interested in the socio-political implications of sound and listening cultures, as well as in the challenges posed by post-naturalist ecology and its impact on contemporary perception and sensitivity. He creates music that combines composition, protocols, and improvisation with string instruments, objects, and rudimentary electronic systems. His practice spans instrumental performance, sound installation, cartography, photography, and drawing. He founded Dreieck Interférences, a cooperative for sonic thought that supports the creation of contemporary artistic projects and shares them through the Les Habité·es festival and the Ligne de crête label. https://stephaneclor.net/ ⇨ WHEN: 19th January 18:30 - 21:30 ⇨ WHERE: Synth Library Prague - Pod Terebkou 1139/15, P4 GPS 50.062727159303336, 14.437951978446856 ⇨ REGISTER: at info@synthlibrary.cz ⇨ DONATION: 400 - 1000 CZK ⇨ SUITABLE: suitable for anyone who plays an acoustic instrument ⇨ ANY QUESTIONS OR SUGGESTIONS at info@synthlibrary.cz MEMBERSHIP If you wish to become a member of the Synth Library Prague and get access to the the collection of instruments and books together with other members three times a week, please register at synthlibrary.cz/registrace.php TRIGGER CHANGE We encourage everyone to think about the systems of power and stereotypes not only in the field of music and music technology as well as in the learning process and our lives in general and to be considerate and respectful. photo: Laurent Orseau |
