Intro to Arduino synth design
Based on μLSe by Kacper Ziemianin a.k.a. Ctrl Freq
Join us for a workshop with instrument maker, sound artist and activist Kacperem Ziemianinem aka Ctrl Freq. You will learn basics of instrument building with Arduino and leave with your own mini light sequencer μLSe.
During this workshop we will construct an instrument called μLSe and by following this process learn about various aspects of instrument design. We will start with introduction to DIY electronics and talk about skills and tools involved. The main part will be about implementing what we've learnt by putting the device together, connecting it to the computer and uploading code and making sure it works (troubleshooting). Finally we will look at ways to change how the instrument behaves by altering the code. In the meantime we will look at examples of artworks utilizing Arduino platform and discuss participants individual projects ideas and how to make them into reality. This workshop grew from more than a decade of experience in instrument design on one hand and giving DIY electronics workshops on another. μLSe is a hands-on, Arduino-based sound device designed specifically for workshops. It's a younger sibling of LSe (Light Sequencer) instrument which uses complex light sequences to generate and control sound. While the original LSe is powerful, it’s also costly and time-consuming to build. μLSe keeps the core concept of transforming light patterns into sound in a simplest possible way. The device features: • 2 RGB LEDs and 2 light sensors for creating interactive light/sound patterns • 2 buttons to switch sound and light modes • A mini speaker (or piezo) for built-in audio playback and a 3.5mm jack for external audio output SUITABLE FOR: Beginners - intermediate DURATION: approx. 4 hours PRICE: 90 Euro (including all the components) All tools will be available on spot BRING YOUR: • 5V USB power supply + a USB C Cable (phone chargers work well) • laptop with Arduino software installed (optional) - https://www.arduino.cc • creativity, open eyes and ears Kacper Ziemianin a.k.a. ‘Ctrl Freq’ has background in classical music and a lot of adventures in modern sound and music. Knihovna vítá vaše návrhy a nápady. |
